There is something so provocative about waking up still drunk. What a magical evening it was...
Thomas came by after work, and we meandered down to Fiorella's to visit Ronnie. It was such a pleasure for me to introduce the two of them...It's a lovely change to be dating someone I'm actually proud to show off to my friends. Thomas had never been to Molly's, so we wandered over there and spent some time with Tara before heading out on a shopping spree (details available upon request, but this is a family site.)I have to admit, it was a real joy to be able to stroll through a store, not looking at prices, and say "I want that one, and that one, and two of these..." And Thomas just smiled that special little smile and whipped out the credit card. So to speak.
Off to Flanagan's for great conversation and a whiskey or three, then back to Molly's. The front bar was full, so we went in back and sat down next to a gentleman who turned out to be my old and very dear friend Ben. No, not that Ben. This Ben is the suave and worldly one who owned Pirate's Alley during the magical and halcyon days of Gwyn the Naked Bartender. We reminisced while he grilled Thomas for a couple of hours to determine his suitability. He passed with flying colors, of course. Ben had some truly lovely things to say about me, and related some of the more heroic Gwyn drinking stories...The time I annihilated the chess master five games running, reducing him to tears, muttering, and pounding his head against the wall. The epic day of two and a half bottles of Jameson in five hours...And more. I was so thrilled to see Ben again...He looks just as debonaire as always, and is finishing up a novel. I look forward to reading it. When it is published, each of you will be obligated to buy at least two copies.
Many things were said last night, many promises were made. England for Christmas...Greece for Easter...California in October for my sister's wedding...And more.
I feel joyful and hopeful and excited almost past bearing. I can't wait to see what happens next...Finally, I'm living the Happily Ever After part of my faerie tale. We deserve it.

Oh yeah...for all of you living here in New Orleans, Bingo is playing at One Eyed Jacks around 10 ish on Sunday night. I expect to see each and every one of you there. There will be a quiz.
